The role of Catering and Banquet Manager within University Catering at the University of Iowa centers on the management and smooth execution of catering and banquet events across campus. This full-time position requires a hands-on approach to coordinating all aspects of catering services, including event set-up, staff hiring, scheduling, and training of part-time and student employees. The manager serves as a vital liaison between University Catering and various university departments and external clients to ensure service standards are met and guest satisfaction is achieved. Given the dynamic nature of event services, the role demands flexibility, including frequent evening and weekend work hours to match business needs. In this capacity, the manager is responsible for overseeing labor costs and staffing assignments, coordinating event requirements with kitchen, service, sales, and operations teams, and monitoring guest experiences to proactively resolve any issues. • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related hospitality experience
• 1-3 years work experience in banquets, catering, and/or fine dining restaurant leadership
• 1-3 years administrative experience including supervision of staff and inventory control
• Knowledge of event management processes and activities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven customer service ability
