The role of a bakery team member at WinCo Foods is integral to delivering fresh, high-quality baked goods and exceptional customer service within each store. This position involves the preparation, mixing, and baking of various bakery items, ensuring all products meet company standards for freshness and presentation. The bakery associate is responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels, adhering to food safety and sanitation protocols, and managing bakery equipment efficiently. This role is dynamic and hands-on, requiring physical tasks such as lifting ingredients, operating mixers, ovens, and other bakery machinery, as well as crafting decorative cakes and special orders tailored to customer requests. With shifts generally ranging between 6 to 8 hours scheduled between early morning and late evening, this position demands flexibility and dedication to meeting production deadlines while fostering a warm and engaging environment for customers. - Food Handlers Certification per state laws
- ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including night, weekends and holidays
- ability to push and pull approximately 100 lb of product at a time on rack
- ability to lift objects of various dimensions chest high up to 50 lbs
- ability to conduct visual inspections, read and follow production guides, recipes and product labels, log production quantities, temperature readings on proper forms
- ability to catch breads, put product onto trays for baking, operate kitchen utensils and equipment with manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
- ability to maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers
- ability to reach overhead to place product on racks
- ability to stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods of time
- ability to bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, perform repetitive movement and reach frequently
- ability to handle bakery ingredients
- ability to perform basic math and compute weights and measures
- ability to perform duties with mental alertness involving potential hazards with respect to baking procedures, equipment and work aides
- ability to respond to audible timers on baking equipment
- ability to perform around equipment and product emitting heat approximately 465 degrees
- ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures and department policies
- ability to use cleaning chemicals and handle related food products
- ability to perform primary duties with efficiency and accuracy
- ability to effectively manage time to ensure that deadlines are met
- ability to prioritize and perform a variety of simultaneous tasks
- ability to wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other personal protective equipment as required
- ability to check labels and packaging of all manufactured products
- ability to communicate effectively with customers to receive orders and perform customer relation skills
- ability to communicate in writing and read and follow instructions
