As a Baker at Hollywood Casino & Hotel, you have the opportunity to be directly involved in the delightful production and presentation of baked goods that cater to a wide array of property outlets. This role is essential in ensuring the culinary excellence expected by guests is consistently achieved. The baker’s responsibilities encompass everything from mixing and baking to decorating, all while adhering to set recipes and quality standards.
Working hours vary between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., with a competitive pay rate of $18.00 per hour. The role requires both creativity and precision in baking individual pastries, cakes, pies, plated desserts, breads, cookies, and other baked products. Bakers must be adept at troubleshooting production issues, accurately mixing and forming doughs, and forecasting ingredient needs based on order forms and daily forecasts. The use of bakery and kitchen equipment such as scales, upright mixers, steam kettles, stoves, sheeters, glaze machines, confectionary machines, heat lamps, deep fryers, broilers, and basic hand tools is routine. Bakers are also responsible for maintaining clean and sanitary workstations, rotating stock to ensure quality assurance, and providing relief and assistance for other kitchen roles as needed.
This position demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain high standards during busy service times while controlling inventory levels in response to occupancy and reservation rates.                 - High school diploma or equivalent required
 - Associate degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience preferred
 - Applicant must be at least 18 years of age
 - Must have knowledge of kitchen sanitation, operation, and maintenance of kitchen/bakery equipment
 - Must be able to work any day of the week and any shift, including holidays and weekends
 - Must pass background check
 - Must be able to bend, twist, turn, push, and pull a minimum of 100 lbs. in a cart
 - Must be able to reach above and below the shoulder while carrying a minimum of 50 lbs
 - Knowledge of proper pastry bag, cake decorating skills, piping techniques, and knife and spatula techniques
 - Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and/or entire shift
 - Flexibility in fingers and hands to utilize kitchen/bakery equipment, bottles/glasses/knives/etc.
 - Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
 - Familiar with all phases and operations of the bakery and able to have a sense of urgency and react to changing business demands
