The opportunity at AECOM for a Traffic or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineer is a dynamic and impactful role based in various offices across the Greater Midwest and Greater Southwest. This hybrid position offers the chance to work both locally and regionally on high-profile infrastructure projects that influence the shape and safety of communities. The selected candidate will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team that is known for winning significant projects and delivering excellent engineering solutions. In this role, you will support project teams in delivering comprehensive traffic engineering and ITS services. Responsibilities will include traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, and conceptual planning and design. You will be involved in preparing detailed plan sheets, specifications, estimates, technical memoranda, reports, and presentations essential to project execution and client communication. The role involves managing ITS or emerging technology projects by applying the systems engineering process, ensuring all deliverables meet AECOM’s high standards of quality, schedule, and budget. You will work collaboratively with early-career staff by reviewing their technical work and project documentation, providing mentorship and expertise as needed. The engineer will coordinate closely with other disciplines within AECOM, external consultants, and clients to ensure seamless project delivery. Business development collaboration also forms a part of the role, identifying opportunities to expand AECOM’s project portfolio. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently on significant design elements while adhering to project objectives and company policies.   • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience
  • Ability to obtain PE license within 6 months if not currently licensed
  • Proficient in traffic analysis and ITS technologies
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
