The Restaurant Manager (Gerente de Restaurante) at A.R. Valentien plays a critical leadership role in sustaining the high standards that have earned the restaurant Forbes Five-Star recognition. This full-time, exempt management position carries a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $83,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications, with the opportunity to work in a dynamic, luxury hotel restaurant environment. The manager is responsible for overseeing all front-of-house operations, collaborating closely with restaurant leadership to ensure seamless guest experiences that reflect the hotel’s brand values and uphold AAA and Forbes service standards. The role requires a balance of hands-on day-to-day operational management, team leadership, and strategic oversight to achieve operational goals including labor efficiency, quality assurance, and guest satisfaction. He or she must demonstrate strong people management skills by recruiting, training, mentoring, and coaching staff, fostering a culture of accountability, respect, and continuous improvement.
The Restaurant Manager directly ensures that service standards and cleanliness align with Health Department regulations and company policies, maintaining a safe and pleasant environment for guests. A key aspect of this role is to maintain an active presence during shifts, guiding staff in guest interactions and promptly addressing any service recovery situations. Additionally, the manager works closely with various hotel departments to guarantee quality service delivery. - Bachelor's degree
- At least 2 years of restaurant management experience in fine dining
- Experience with luxury hotel or resort preferred
- Fine dining operational experience
- Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire
- RBS Certification
- Physical ability to stand, kneel, squat for entire shift and lift 40 lbs
- Knowledge of POS systems
- Compliance with California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq
