AECOM is currently seeking a creative and highly talented Aviation Design Project Manager for immediate employment in its San Francisco, Orange, or Los Angeles, CA offices. This role involves managing aviation-related civil design, planning, construction support, and client services for both General Aviation and Commercial Air Service Airports. The project manager will oversee small to large multi-discipline projects that include the design of runways, taxiways, aprons, vehicle service roads, airfield lighting, navigational aids, drainage, utility relocation, and pavement rehabilitation. They are expected to mentor staff, provide leadership that fosters teamwork and professional growth, guide teams on complex technical issues, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. The role also requires building and maintaining positive client relationships, participating in marketing and business development efforts, preparing proposals, negotiating contracts, and ensuring projects meet schedule, budget, quality, and scope requirements. The Aviation Design Project Manager will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, coordinate with clients and regulatory agencies including the FAA, and ensure project quality assurance and control. The position demands strategic planning, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to help grow the company’s business in the aviation sector. • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant design experience
• Proven experience in aviation project management
• Ability to manage projects valued at $5 million or more
• Professional Engineer license in California preferred
• Experience in marketing and business development
• Willingness to travel to client sites and projects in regional areas
• Strong leadership and team mentoring skills
• Excellent client relationship management skills
• Knowledge of FAA regulations and local permit requirements
• Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
