This position is for an Adjunct Faculty member within the School of Business, Technology and Law, specifically under the Instruction division. The role focuses on teaching a variety of aviation-related courses including, but not limited to, aviation history, aviation safety, air traffic control, aviation fundamentals, and air transportation. As part of the instructional team, the faculty member will be expected to contribute to the excellence of the aviation program by providing high-quality teaching and support to students. The teaching load is compensated at $1085 per credit hour, offering a competitive pay level for adjunct faculty. The work location is based in Catonsville, Maryland.
The selected candidate will operate under the supervision of the Dean of the School of Business, Technology and Law and will collaborate closely with the Aviation Program Coordinator to ensure the success and continuous improvement of the program. This role demands a professional with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience to enrich the learning environment and effectively prepare students for careers in aviation. In addition to classroom teaching, the faculty member will be involved in aviation program marketing and promotion activities, student advisement and counseling, hosting aviation events on campus, and designing and updating the program curricula. Other committee assignments within the college will also be part of the responsibilities.
Candidates for this position should bring a robust background in aviation, including credentials and licenses in areas such as air traffic control, flight operations as a pilot, certificated flight or ground instructor, or aircraft dispatcher. A minimum of three years of aviation field experience is required to ensure that instruction is grounded in current industry practices. Experience teaching at the collegiate level, technical expertise in flight or air traffic control simulation systems, and related aviation certifications will be considered advantageous. Additionally, candidates who have experience with distance learning may find their skills particularly suited to CCBC’s evolving educational delivery methods. - Bachelor's degree or commensurate aviation experience
- Credentials and licenses to instruct in air traffic control as an Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) and/or flight operations as a pilot or certificated flight or ground instructor (CFI) or Aircraft Dispatcher
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in the aviation field
- Experience teaching at collegiate level preferred
- Ability to use flight simulation or air traffic control simulation systems advantageous
- Related aviation certifications and distance learning experience preferred
