The role of the Porter is a vital position that complements the high-quality repair services provided by Gerber Collision & Glass. This position primarily focuses on maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of customer vehicles before and after repairs, ensuring that every vehicle delivered meets the company’s high standards for presentation. Additionally, the Porter is responsible for the upkeep of the shop and office facilities, contributing to a clean, safe, and organized working environment. This attention to detail directly supports the company’s WOW Operating Way (WOW plan) and enhances overall customer satisfaction.
As part of the Porter’s duties, the individual will handle various tasks such as pre-washing vehicles prior to repairs, performing both interior and exterior clean-ups post-repair, and transporting customer vehicles to sublet locations when necessary. The position also includes maintaining parking lots and grounds, including snow removal duties when required. Within the production and office areas, the Porter ensures daily housekeeping tasks are completed, which contain emptying garbage cans, sweeping floors, dusting, and organizing tools and equipment. Maintaining this level of cleanliness and orderliness not only promotes a positive work environment but also improves operational efficiency.

The company prefers candidates with automotive experience, good multitasking skills, and a positive attitude. The role requires physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, standing for extended periods, and other movements like stooping and kneeling. The Porter position offers competitive hourly compensation ranging from $17 to $21 per hour, commensurate with the candidate’s skill, education, and experience.
