This permanent part-time Athletics Program Assistant role, based in Raleigh, NC, is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about sports, recreation, and community engagement. With a competitive hourly wage ranging between $15.92 and $25.47 and an expected workload of 25 hours per week year-round, this position offers flexibility including evenings and weekends as needed. The candidate will support the Athletics Program by managing daily operations, coordinating athletic field and court rentals, administering seasonal youth and adult leagues, and assisting with special events. They will also handle important administrative tasks to ensure the smooth delivery of athletic and recreational programming.
The Athletics Program Assistant is essential staff with responsibilities that span both internal functions and direct public interaction. The role demands coordination of athletic field reservations using software tools such as RecTrac, management of rental contracts, implementation of policies relating to field use, and ensuring that facilities are properly prepared for events. Additionally, the assistant aids in planning and organizing programs, responding to community members' inquiries, and assisting with operational support during evenings and weekends.
Working primarily during business hours from 8:30 am to 5:15 pm Monday to Friday, this position requires flexibility to accommodate program requirements during non-standard hours. Candidates should be comfortable handling various responsibilities such as inspecting athletic fields, settling disputes, and managing front desk operations at athletics facilities. Experience in customer service, recreation settings, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment will be highly beneficial.
The City of Raleigh seeks candidates with a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience in recreation, childcare, sports, or a related field. A valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within sixty days is necessary for this role. Preferred qualifications include experience in athletic program management and proficiency in Microsoft Word and RecTrac software.
