The role of Assistant Tasting Room Manager at Lewis Cellars is a pivotal leadership position designed to support the opening and ongoing operation of the winery's brand-new tasting room. This full-time role is ideal for a hospitality professional with a background in luxury environments seeking to contribute to creating extraordinary guest experiences. Reporting to the Tasting Room Manager, the Assistant Manager will oversee daily operations, ensuring that service standards remain impeccable and that team performance aligns with the winery’s ambitious goals. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for mentoring and training staff members, developing a high-performance culture, and ensuring smooth coordination with other departments such as Events, Marketing, Wine Society, and Operations. This position requires a passion for wine, exceptional customer service skills, strong leadership, and a hands-on approach to managing a dynamic team.
Key responsibilities also include managing staff scheduling, handling performance reviews, and driving sales efforts including upselling and membership sign-ups for Wine Insiders. The role demands flexibility, including weekend, holiday, and evening shifts, to meet the needs of a busy tasting room in a premier luxury wine destination. This position offers a base salary range of $75,000 to $85,000, with potential discretionary bonuses based on performance. - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- minimum 3 years of luxury hospitality experience
- at least 1 year of supervisory or management experience
- availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
- knowledge of the wine industry preferred
- excellent communication and leadership skills
- ability to manage staff and operations effectively
- proficiency with P&L management and labor planning tools
- willingness to obtain Level I Sommelier or WSET Level 2 certification
- strong customer service and sales orientation
- ability to handle guest concerns tactfully
- flexibility to work varied shifts
