The Server role for the 2026 cruising season is a pivotal position within the shipboard hotel and restaurant division. As a Server with American Cruise Lines, you will be the face of the brand in the dining environments on board, responsible for delivering outstanding hospitality and creating memorable dining experiences for guests. This temporary position entails working on board for a duration of 28 weeks, during which you will undertake a variety of duties that not only involve serving food and beverages but also engaging with guests to enhance their overall cruise experience. You will efficiently set up and break down dining areas across multiple meal services, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktail hour, ensuring that each table is impeccably arranged with linen, silverware, china, and glassware. Your role goes beyond basic serving responsibilities; you will cater to culinary requests in a timely manner, acknowledging guests by name, escorting them to their tables, presenting menus, suggesting courses and wines, and answering any questions they may have. You will also coordinate closely with the galley to relay orders accurately and ensure that each dish is served with care, properly garnished and decorated. Additionally, the position involves duties such as greeting guests upon embarkation, serving afternoon teas and snacks, and supporting evening entertainment events. This role provides an excellent introduction to the cruise hospitality industry, offering fundamental experience and training that can pave the way for future career growth within American Cruise Lines or the broader hospitality sector. The compensation for Servers ranges from $1,000 to $1,400 per week, supplemented by additional bonuses. With all major living expenses such as travel, accommodation, uniforms, and training covered aboard the ship, employees have a unique opportunity to save a significant portion of their earnings. The position demands a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and the ability to function efficiently under pressure while maintaining a positive and composed demeanor. American Cruise Lines also emphasizes a professional appearance, adhering to grooming standards that limit visible tattoos and piercings, and has strict policies regarding substance use to ensure a safe and conscientious service environment.
