The role of Assistant General Manager (AGM) on the New Restaurant Opening (NRO) team is a unique and influential position. As an AGM at Kirkwood, you will play a pivotal role in establishing the operational standards, service protocols, and cultural foundations for this new upscale restaurant. This position offers a rare opportunity to partner closely with the General Manager in shaping every aspect of the day-to-day restaurant operations, from front of house (FOH) to back of house (BOH) management. Your leadership will be key in recruiting, training, and motivating staff to uphold the highest standards expected in fine dining. Additionally, the Assistant General Manager will be integral in managing the wine program, vendor relationships, and maintaining an inviting and elegant atmosphere for guests.
Ideal candidates will bring over three years of fine dining management experience, with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively and deliver flawless service execution. Financial acuity, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of hospitality dynamics are essential to thrive in this role. A background in wine knowledge and sommelier certification, while preferred, will enable the AGM to enhance the guest experience and manage the wine program with expertise. Bilingualism in English and Spanish is an asset, considering Houston's diverse demographic. - 3+ years of fine dining management experience
- Proven ability to lead both FOH and BOH teams
- Strong financial, leadership, and communication skills
- Extensive wine knowledge
- Sommelier certification preferred
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
- Valid Food Handler and Alcohol Server certificates
- Must be available nights, weekends, and select holidays (closed on Christmas and Thanksgiving)
