This role is focused on managing the functional areas of guest services to ensure the smooth operational flow and profitability of the hotel. As the Guest Services Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the front desk team — handling hiring, firing, performance evaluations, staff training, and development. Scheduling will be optimized according to labor standards and expected occupancy rates to ensure efficiency. You will maintain and enforce high guest service quality standards, contributing directly to improved guest satisfaction and profitability. Your leadership will foster employee development, service innovation, and an enhanced guest experience that aligns with the hotel’s brand reputation.
Your financial acumen will be key as you develop and implement both short-term and long-term operational plans targeted at meeting financial goals. You will assist in preparing the hotel’s annual budget and actively monitor departmental revenues and expenses to maximize profitability. Managing the reservation function is a critical task, ensuring room occupancy rates and average daily rates are optimized through effective suggestive selling techniques by staff. You will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining rigorous procedures for credit control, financial transactions, guest security, and emergency response.
Handling guest complaints with professionalism and ensuring corrective actions are raised swiftly is an essential part of maintaining guest satisfaction. The role requires coaching staff to enhance their guest interaction skills and recognizing employees who exceed guest expectations through rewards and acknowledgments. This position calls for an individual who can analyze business records and performance metrics, apply government regulations knowledge relevant to hotel operations, and make informed decisions based on data and experience.
The role demands a versatile leader capable of planning, organizing, and adapting to frequently changing activities and interruptions. Physically, the position requires the ability to speak and understand English proficiently, with both close and distant vision capabilities. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and fine motor skills, is essential. The work environment will be a mix of normal office conditions and close physical proximity to team members and guests.
The successful candidate will hold at least a bachelor’s degree in management, hotel administration, business, or a related field and have a minimum of one year of night audit experience, two years’ experience in front desk operations, and one year of experience in direct sales or retail trade, or equivalent education and experience combinations.
