The Charlotte Area Safety Manager role at Faulconer Construction is a vital position tasked with prioritizing the safety, health, and welfare of employees working on Charlotte area projects. Reporting directly to the Director of Field Safety with additional support from the VP of Health & Safety, this full-time role is designed for a highly motivated individual who thrives in a team-based setting and possesses strong interpersonal skills necessary for building solid working relationships with employees, subcontractors, and site leadership alike. The Safety Manager will be responsible for fostering a safe, regulatory-compliant work culture, actively influencing safe work behaviors through coaching and hands-on engagement on job sites. This position involves extensive fieldwork, including regular commuting and working outdoors in various weather conditions such as extreme cold and heat. It requires physical stamina to lift up to 40 pounds and flexibility to occasionally travel to other company sites or stay overnight for meetings. Responsibilities include conducting site safety inspections, leading incident investigations, delivering safety training covering key construction safety topics such as excavation, confined space, fall protection, and heavy equipment operations. The role also involves assisting operational teams with risk assessments, purchasing and maintaining personal protective equipment (PPE), reviewing project plans, developing safety communication materials, and conducting root cause analyses to prevent future incidents. The ideal candidate is expected to be a proactive leader who can make tough decisions such as stopping unsafe work when necessary, while maintaining professional and effective communication with all levels of site management.
