We are currently seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced Area Controller to join our team remotely, with a strong preference for candidates located within the Pacific or Mountain time zones. This is a salaried, exempt position reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance, offering a competitive salary range between $125,000 and $150,000 annually. As an integral member of the Executive Committee, the Area Controller will oversee, direct, and administer all financial operations across multiple hotel properties. The role demands a professional individual who leads with integrity while supporting the hotel’s ongoing commitment to outstanding guest service and financial performance.
The Area Controller position is essential in managing hotel accounting teams and processes, ensuring that financial strategies are aligned with corporate goals and operational standards. You will be responsible for supervising the accounting staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and disciplinary actions, as well as establishing and enforcing essential accounting policies and procedures. A significant part of your responsibilities will include managing cash flow, reviewing financial reports for accuracy and compliance, and preparing monthly financial statements and flash reports for corporate leadership.
Additionally, the role includes working closely with the General Manager in budget development, monitoring departmental expenditures to align with operational standards, and maintaining rigorous control over accounting functions such as payroll, night audit, and accounts payable and receivable. The Area Controller also ensures compliance with cash handling and internal control procedures, leads safety initiatives for the department, and oversees training programs to maintain a high level of staff competence.

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Minimum five years experience in hotel accounting or related field
- At least one year in a supervisory position
