This includes developing a team of skilled bartenders who consistently deliver fast and accurate service. The Bar Manager plays a critical role in ensuring responsible alcohol service and managing beverage quality, while controlling costs related to beverages, labor, and production. In this leadership role, the Bar Manager will also be responsible for enhancing sales through strategic local marketing campaigns which aim to increase guest traffic and revenue. Supervisory duties include staffing, training, and developing hourly team members through continuous feedback, coaching, and performance reviews to cultivate a motivated and high-performing team culture. Scheduling and manpower planning will be key components to maintain proper staffing levels for each shift. Daily responsibilities encompass managing operations during shifts, making quick decisions, supporting staff, interacting with guests to ensure satisfaction, upholding standards of quality and cleanliness, and ensuring that the bar is set up properly for successful service. The Bar Manager must also be prepared to step in as acting Manager on Duty when necessary, overseeing the entire restaurant operation to maintain smooth functioning. Operational oversight includes beverage product purchasing, inventory management, supplier inspections, and maintaining proper par levels, all to minimize waste and optimize costs. Knowledge of bar equipment and its maintenance is essential to keep operations running efficiently. The position demands strong leadership and decision-making skills, particularly in handling guest relations, employee relations, vendor issues, and maintaining adherence to recipe and service standards. The ability to influence hiring decisions, recruiting strategies, and sales objectives is also critical. Success metrics for this role include exceeding guest satisfaction scores, meeting budget targets for beverage costs and labor, growing sales to surpass annual goals, and minimizing team member turnover. Candidates should preferably have completed some college coursework, with a Bachelor’s degree being desirable. A minimum of six months’ restaurant management experience alongside at least two years of extensive bar experience is required. Practical knowledge of purchasing and production processes is important, as are physical capabilities such as prolonged standing, lifting up to 30 lbs, and the ability to work amid loud environments.
