The role of the Hotel Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Hilton Albany is pivotal in maintaining and elevating the hotel's operational standards and guest satisfaction. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the AGM supports and manages multiple facets of daily hotel operations, including front desk services, housekeeping, and food and beverage departments. The position involves a blend of leadership, operational oversight, financial management, and compliance ensuring the property runs smoothly and profitably.
A core responsibility of the AGM is to supervise and mentor department managers and staff, fostering a positive work environment that encourages growth, performance, and adherence to Hilton brand standards. This includes managing training compliance, recruiting high-caliber team members, role-playing proper guest interaction etiquette, and conducting performance evaluations. The AGM also plays an active role in maintaining operational efficiency by monitoring workflows, addressing challenges, and implementing continuous improvements across all departments.
Guest experience remains a top priority, with the AGM ensuring that all areas from guest rooms to public spaces maintain the highest cleanliness and service standards. This also includes active involvement in reviewing guest feedback and hotel performance metrics such as Qualtrics comments and Stay Experience scores, working closely with the team to develop strategies that enhance satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
Financial oversight is another vital aspect of the job. The AGM assists the General Manager with budget management, cost control, payroll oversight, and inventory management to maximize profitability. Regular analyses of financial reports and performance metrics help identify opportunities for expense reduction and revenue enhancement while ensuring compliance with the hotel’s labor forecasts.
Compliance and safety are critical, with the AGM responsible for ensuring all operations align with local laws, safety regulations, and company policies. This includes reviewing emergency procedures, overseeing risk management, and conducting regular inspections to safeguard guests and staff.
Additionally, the AGM collaborates with the sales and marketing teams to support promotional events, group functions, and corporate partnerships aimed at increasing the hotel's market visibility and revenue. This role calls for adaptability, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of hotel operations and guest service excellence.
