The role offered at Gaylord Opryland Resort is a full-time management position within their event management team, specifically focused on banquet and event operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all event services meet and exceed brand standards, guest expectations, and legal requirements. Working at an hourly wage ranging from $28.37 to $38.94, with eligibility for bonuses, this role offers both competitive compensation and opportunities for professional growth within Marriott's extensive hospitality network.
As an Event Management professional at Gaylord Opryland, you will be responsible for communicating service needs efficiently with chefs, stewards, and service staff throughout events to ensure seamless operations. Your duties will include verifying that banquet rooms, restaurants, and coffee break areas are fully prepared according to event specifications. This includes ensuring the proper placement of centerpieces and the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glassware, and silverware prior to use.
In this leadership role, you will be expected to conduct pre-event and post-event inspections and meetings, actively participate in daily briefings, and lead shift teams with a focus on delivering consistent, high-quality service. You will coordinate with multiple departments, such as Event Technology and Event Planning, to ensure flawless event execution. Additionally, you will manage financial components by totaling charges for group functions and presenting payment checks to clients, as well as assisting senior managers in various administrative tasks.
Your responsibilities also encompass managing departmental inventories, ordering supplies, scheduling staff according to forecasted event demands, and applying cost controls to maintain profitability. You will be instrumental in training and mentoring team members, fostering an inclusive and motivating work environment, and ensuring that all staff comply with OSHA regulations and brand policies.
This position requires a strong customer service orientation. You will handle guest feedback, resolve complaints effectively, and ensure that every event contributes to a memorable experience for attendees. The role demands a balance of operational expertise, team leadership, and interpersonal skills to maintain the high standards synonymous with the Gaylord and Marriott brands.

                - High school diploma or GED or 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
 - 2 years experience in food and beverage, culinary, guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area
 - or at least 3 years experience in two of the following areas of hospitality: food and beverage, culinary, guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area
 - ability to run shifts and schedule staff
 - ability to manage performance and solve problems
