The Shelter Supervisor role at Gateway West represents a pivotal leadership position focused on managing the daily operations of the shelter with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and compassion. This full-time, overnight position runs from 10pm to 7am and requires availability on weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the shelter and its guests. The Supervisor will oversee shelter staff including case managers, intake coordinators, and support personnel, ensuring that all shifts are adequately staffed to maintain a supportive environment at all times. A core responsibility of the Shelter Supervisor is fostering a trauma-informed, client-centered atmosphere. This includes actively engaging and empowering their team, facilitating training sessions to enhance staff skills, and conducting performance evaluations to promote professional growth. Additionally, the Supervisor will handle operational logistics, coordinate schedules, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards and shelter policies. Successful candidates will bring expertise in crisis intervention and the ability to handle emergencies with compassion and professionalism. Candidates should have 3-5 years of experience in social services or shelter management, including 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity.
