The Mobile Cafeteria Manager II plays a pivotal role within the ASD Student Nutrition and Operations division, tasked with overseeing and managing food service operations in various school settings. This full-time, 9-month per year position demands flexibility and mobility, as the manager is required to travel on short notice to different school cafeterias to provide on-site training, manage staff, or cover for absences and vacancies. The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $22.01 to $23.07, dependent on experience, and includes membership in the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS), ensuring valuable retirement benefits. This role is essential to maintaining the high standards of food safety, quality, and compliance that the district upholds. The Mobile Cafeteria Manager II is responsible for supervising a large-scale food service operation, ensuring that meals are prepared and served on schedule, managing staff assignments, monitoring kitchen equipment and food safety protocols in line with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards, and maintaining compliance with the USDA National School Lunch Program (NSLP) guidelines. Apart from managing food preparation, inventory, and cash handling procedures, the manager coordinates employee work schedules, addresses customer complaints, and upholds sanitation standards. The position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and effective communication with a wide range of individuals including students, staff, and community members. The role also involves administrative duties such as submitting reports, maintenance requests, and ensuring all operations align with district policies. The successful candidate must undergo an eight-hour food safety training class, demonstrate proficiency in basic math and Microsoft Office applications, and hold a valid Alaska driver’s license. Experience in food service management, cashiering, and training is highly valued.   • High school diploma or equivalent or two years related work experience in lieu
  • Three years large-scale food service experience including food safety
  • One year supervisory experience
  • Proficient in cashiering and Microsoft Office
  • Basic math proficiency
  • Complete eight-hour ASD Serving It Safe food safety training and pass exam within 21 days of hire
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license
  • Preferred one year training experience
  • Preferred one year school food service management
  • Preferred experience with point of sale and inventory systems
  • Preferred previous food service manager experience
