The Analyst for Pilot Workforce Planning is an integral member of this Flight Operations team. This role is designed for a proactive and detail-oriented professional who will help create, maintain, and communicate the pilot staffing plan for United Airlines. The position entails collaborating closely with various internal business partners to project accurate staffing needs and ensure that the airline is equipped with the right personnel to support its flight schedules. The analyst’s activities are pivotal to managing the pilot workforce effectively to uphold United’s operational excellence. Key responsibilities for this role include participating in the annual budget planning for Flight Operations, performing monthly reforecasting tasks to incorporate updates from the Flight Training Center partners, and ensuring that long-term planning reflects all inputs precisely for the most accurate forecasts possible. The analyst will also engage in the development of the Annual Pilot Vacation plan, helping to balance staffing availability and operational requirements. In addition to owning the numerical inputs to the staffing plan, the analyst will function as a crucial communicator, bridging the gap between long-term planning and monthly execution. Regular interaction with the internal Crew Planning team ensures smooth transitions and accurate expectations management. This role also demands proficiency in performing ad hoc scenario analysis, such as adjusting for new pilot contracts, aircraft deliveries, and evolving training needs, supported by strong modeling, data analysis, and presentation skills.
