The role being offered is based at Monterey Regional Airport in California, where United Ground Express seeks to onboard dedicated and motivated individuals for the position of a Ground Service Agent. This role is integral to delivering a smooth and positive experience for travelers, as it involves direct interaction with passengers as well as behind-the-scenes responsibilities that keep daily airport operations running efficiently. The Ground Service Agent is responsible for greeting passengers, managing check-in and ticketing procedures, ensuring timely and accurate processing of flight information, and responding effectively to passenger inquiries or concerns, especially those arising from flight interruptions.
In addition to passenger service, the position requires employees to handle duties related to baggage service, including tracking and relocating passenger belongings and managing the physical loading and unloading of baggage and cargo. The job demands physical stamina and the ability to work in varying weather conditions, as agents will be spending significant time outdoors and must be capable of lifting weights up to 70 pounds, sometimes managing over 100 items for a single flight. Use of technology and electronic devices is an essential element of the role, requiring comfort and proficiency in operating reservation and ticketing software, communication radios, and other digital tools.
Agents must maintain composure and professionalism even when faced with customer challenges or stressful situations, adhering strictly to company policies and Federal Aviation Administration regulations.
