This particular Field Supervisor role involves mentorship, observation, assessment, and evaluation of student teachers in collaboration with cooperating teachers from host schools. The successful candidate acts as a vital liaison between McGill University and the host schools, ensuring that placements and experiences meet university standards and comply with relevant policies and procedures. The Field Supervisor provides constructive feedback both orally and in writing, aiming to foster the progressive development of professional competencies among student teachers. The position requires exceptional interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to handle challenging conversations independently. Field Supervisors assist in overcoming obstacles during placements and help maintain a positive and productive relationship between the university and school partners. Over time, seasoned supervisors may also mentor new Field Supervisors, contributing to the quality and consistency of McGill's field supervision program. Candidates must possess significant hands-on experience in elementary or high school settings, preferably within Quebec, and have a deep understanding of the Quebec Education Program's key components, including the Subject Competencies, Broad Areas of Learning, and Cross-Curricular Competencies. This knowledge is essential for accurately evaluating and supporting student teachers in their professional growth. The role requires availability for the entire duration of placements and internships, which vary in dates and lengths. Supervisors must have access to a personal vehicle to travel up to an hour each way to assigned schools. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills are critical, alongside proficiency in digital tools commonly used in educational administration, such as Microsoft Office and online forms.
