Candidates in this role will perform skilled work installing new network components such as switches and field devices, maintaining physical network connections using fiber optic and copper cable, and ensuring local and wide area network connectivity. The position also requires knowledge of traffic signal systems, including installation and repair of traffic control devices that comply with standards set by regulatory bodies including the Texas Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration. Employees will operate specialized equipment such as voltmeters, radio programmers, aerial hydraulic equipment, and trenching tools, among others.
Further duties include splicing fiber optics and cables, handling emergency repairs 24/7, installing video detection cameras, microwave telemetry systems, vehicle detection loops, and emergency vehicle priority systems. The role demands readiness to respond to emergency calls to ensure traffic signal systems function optimally and to maintain records and field reports related to construction and maintenance activities.
