The available position at SpartanNash is located at 3034 Lansing Rd, Perry, Michigan, and involves working independently to display and stock products while contributing positively to the financial interests of the store. This role emphasizes compliance with company guidelines regarding guest experience, safety, and food safety standards. Responsibilities include handling financial transactions such as cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, and loyalty cards in an accurate and policy-compliant manner. The associate will assist in receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise, as well as manage front-end tasks such as operating the cash register, suggestive selling, enrolling customers in the loyalty program, and maintaining a clean service area. In addition, the role requires attention to detail in maintaining accurate product identification and pricing, promoting current store programs, and effectively communicating company initiatives like loyalty programs and in-store specials to guests. It also involves adhering strictly to company policies around security, cash handling, product quality, and regulatory compliance for the sale of restricted products like alcohol and tobacco. Associates are expected to maintain a clean, organized department and surrounding areas, follow all PPE, safety, and food safety protocols, and may be asked to assist in other departments as needed to enhance the guest experience. Being physically able to perform job duties such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and working in varied retail and weather conditions is required. • High school diploma or GED preferred
• One year of prior retail or related experience preferred
• Good verbal communication skills
• Ability to interact politely and effectively with customers
• Good customer service and organizational skills
• Detail-oriented
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
• Physical ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
