The role we are hiring for is a Customs Entry Writer, an integral position within our US operations team. This role is crafted for an individual with experience and a passion for freight forwarding and customs brokerage. The Customs Entry Writer will play a key role in ensuring the timely and seamless clearance of goods through US Customs for all import shipments. This means handling all customs documentation, compliance checks, and coordination with relevant authorities, while facilitating an economical and efficient import process for our clients. The candidate will be actively involved in filing entries and entry summaries, managing electronic PGA, prior notifications, and other filing processes across the United States.
In this fast-paced environment, the Customs Entry Writer will work closely with colleagues across multiple departments, including customer service and sales, to ensure that documentation and compliance requirements are fulfilled accurately and promptly. Knowledge of the ACE/ABI systems, regulatory requirements from agencies like FDA, USDA, EPA, and Fish & Wildlife, and familiarity with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule is critical to success in this position. The role demands strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and an ability to troubleshoot and liaise with government entities to resolve potential issues quickly.
This is a hands-on, on-site role requiring the candidate to be present and fully engaged with the operations team to uphold company and industry standards, including compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 integrated management systems. The ideal candidate will also be proactive in maintaining excellent relationships with transportation agencies and clients, ensuring client satisfaction and service quality remain paramount.                 - Must have knowledge of the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule
 - Must have knowledge in food and beverage commodities as well as general commodities
 - Must be able to anticipate problems and be able to liaise with governmental companies to solve them
 - Must be able file and follow ISF’s
 - Must have knowledge of FDA, USDA, Fish & Wildlife, EPA, and other government agencies when applicable
 - Follow up with Customs and OGA, to ensure customs releases
 - Perform and audit of the file to ensure all customs formalities have being satisfied
 - Must be able to work on site, this is not a remote position
 - Expected to maintain conformance to ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 integrated management systems
