The role is essential to the smooth functioning of airfield operations, ensuring that airport facilities, runways, taxiways, ramps, and perimeter barriers are inspected regularly and maintained in compliance with federal and airport safety standards. Responsibilities include the issuance of Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMS) when hazards are identified and coordinating the safe closure of airport sections if necessary. The agent is integral to the implementation and coordination of snow and ice control plans, response to aircraft emergencies, and serving as liaison during incident responses. Security enforcement in adherence with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations, overseeing passenger flow, and monitoring ground transportation services within airport premises are additional key duties.
