The Airport Operations Agent position at the Colorado Springs Airport is a full-time role classified under the Airport Operations division, with an hourly salary ranging from $24.02 to $28.84. Scheduled for four 10-hour shifts per week, the typical workweek involves shifts from Sunday through Wednesday or Wednesday through Saturday, with hours varying between morning, afternoon, and night based on crew assignments. The role is essential to the smooth functioning of airfield operations, ensuring that airport facilities, runways, taxiways, ramps, and perimeter barriers are inspected regularly and maintained in compliance with federal and airport safety standards. Responsibilities include the issuance of Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMS) when hazards are identified and coordinating the safe closure of airport sections if necessary. The agent is integral to the implementation and coordination of snow and ice control plans, response to aircraft emergencies, and serving as liaison during incident responses. Security enforcement in adherence with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations, overseeing passenger flow, and monitoring ground transportation services within airport premises are additional key duties. The position demands high levels of customer service, administrative accuracy in maintaining logs and reports, and the ability to make safety and maintenance recommendations to senior management. Candidates for this position should possess knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR part 139), TSA security regulations (49 CFR part 1542), and airport advisory circulars, along with proficiency in office software and radio communication. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid Colorado driver’s license, and at least one year of relevant airport operations or military experience.
