The Food Safety Specialist role is a critical leadership position within the Product & Merchandising Group (PMG), focused on upholding and advancing the organization's food safety standards. This role primarily operates in the field and is tasked with developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive food safety programs throughout the company. The position ensures rigorous compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations along with industry best practices. One of the core responsibilities of the Food Safety Specialist is to foster a culture of food safety excellence, ensuring that every level of the organization—from team members to leadership—is knowledgeable and compliant with food safety protocols.
This role requires the expertise to conduct regular audits, provide actionable feedback, and deliver targeted training programs designed to enhance food safety knowledge and practices among staff. The Food Safety Specialist also serves as a key technical advisor on matters related to food safety regulations, hazard analysis (HACCP), labeling compliance, and product quality testing. Managing digital food safety platforms and coordinating companywide recall processes are also vital components of the job, ensuring that all operations meet the highest standards and that any issues are swiftly and effectively addressed.
