The Sous Chef role at Grand Living plays a pivotal part in maintaining the high standards of culinary excellence expected by residents and their guests. Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef is charged with assisting in the management and oversight of all culinary activities across multiple dining venues including the Bistro, Casual Dining, Formal Dining, Luminations memory care dining, and Club Room. This position demands a professional who can elevate the dining experience by not only overseeing kitchen operations but also providing meaningful culinary training and support to kitchen staff. The Sous Chef ensures all food preparation meets the community's standards of quality and safety and that service delivery reflects the signature Sterling Touch® hospitality—courteous, timely, and helpful in every engagement. This full-time position follows a schedule from 10am to 6:30pm with rotating weekends, demonstrating the company’s commitment to balancing operational demands with employee work-life balance.   • College or culinary school degree
  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to culinary school graduation or relevant training
  • Three or more years in food and beverage, country club, fine dining, restaurant or senior living hospitality experience
  • Scratch cooking experience
  • Preferred experience with sauté and broiler techniques
  • Preferred ServeSafe certification
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Manual dexterity to use kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, push, pull continuously
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work within varying temperature ranges
