The Veteran Peer Specialist position is multi-faceted and dynamic. It involves coordinating individual and group services that empower veterans to meet personal goals and live independently. Responsibilities include providing emotional support, coaching, resource connection, and facilitating peer-to-peer groups and life skills classes. The Peer Specialist also plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and therapeutic living environment, monitoring client well-being, de-escalating conflicts, and ensuring compliance with program and funder requirements. • High school diploma required
• One year of experience in social services or related field preferred
• Veteran of the U.S. military or military-related family member preferred
• Knowledge of empowerment and self-advocacy techniques
• Experience working with homeless and/or veterans preferred
• Experience in residential environment with histories of homelessness with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders
• Experience facilitating support groups preferred
