Employees filling this role primarily manage customer interactions at two-aisle check stands, multi-station self-checkout lanes, or customer service desks. Shifts typically range from 6 to 8 hours and can occur between 5:00 AM and 1:00 AM, reflecting the store's extended hours. This position demands not only the technical ability to operate register equipment including cash registers, scanners, and scales but also the interpersonal skills to engage customers warmly, suggest additional products, and ensure every transaction is handled efficiently and accurately. Beyond processing transactions, the role emphasizes maintaining a clean, organized, and secure workspace with a focus on safety and compliance. • Be at least 16 years of age or older
• work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends, and holidays
• perform friendly, courteous, tactful interactions with customers and coworkers with composure
• communicate effectively using hearing and speech
• complete written forms accurately
• conduct visual inspections and read merchandise information
• frequently lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
• operate check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners, and scales
• stand or sit for long periods and move rapidly with bending, stooping, twisting, and turning
• possess manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
• learn and memorize substantial information including PLU codes, product locations, and company policies
• ensure accuracy in transactions and cash handling with mental alertness and basic math skills
• occasionally use blades for box cutting and household cleaners for maintaining work area
• handle potentially high-stress situations and difficult customers
• comply with all company policies and applicable laws
• obtain food safety/handlers cards and tobacco/alcohol sales certification as required by state and local laws
