The airport serves as a vital hub for passengers and cargo, accommodating various airlines and stakeholders. As a leader in airport management, the Operations and Safety Department is responsible for integrating efforts between airside, landside, and terminal operations to uphold a seamless travel experience. This includes cooperation with diverse agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to enforce safety and security protocols while complying with industry regulations. The Airport Operations Supervisor position is a key leadership role within this dynamic environment. It requires a professional who can independently perform all tasks associated with the Airport Operations Officer while also overseeing and coordinating airport operations during their assigned shifts. This role acts as a primary on-site authority, supervising all airside, landside, and terminal operations and ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, the Airport Certification Manual, TSA policies, and airport rules and guidelines. The supervisor must exhibit strong emergency management skills, responding promptly to incidents such as aircraft emergencies, medical situations, and adverse weather conditions. Coordination with airlines, air traffic control, and ground service providers is vital for managing airfield closures, construction projects, and special events without disrupting airport functions. Supervisors also maintain inspection reports, work orders, and ensure that snow and ice control measures are implemented correctly according to airport protocols. Daily responsibilities extend to wildlife management, emergency preparedness, and maintaining operational readiness regardless of external circumstances. Effective communication skills are crucial, as the role demands professional interactions over radio, telephone, and email. Maintenance of valid driver’s licenses and the ability to navigate all airport areas are essential for fulfilling inspection and oversight duties. This position demands a highly reliable individual who can work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, ready to address the fast-paced and often unpredictable nature of airport operations.
