Currently, Amentum is seeking qualified candidates for the position of F/A-18 Plane Captain to support U.S. Navy aircraft maintenance operations at Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia. This role is a critical part of the aviation maintenance team and involves hands-on aircraft servicing related to the F/A-18 aircraft, one of the Navy's primary tactical aircraft. The position requires individuals capable of working in varying shifts and deploying both ashore and afloat, including assignments aboard aircraft carriers. The F/A-18 Plane Captain position requires full certification according to a government-approved process, ensuring that all personnel meet stringent standards in aviation maintenance and safety. The role involves a wide range of responsibilities such as assisting pilots with aircraft maneuvering on the flight line, performing pre-flight through post-flight maintenance checks, operating ground support equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and readiness of aircraft and hangar decks. The individual will be expected to execute operational tasks under various weather conditions, often working outdoors amid loud noise and exhaust fumes. Beyond the technical scope, this role demands adaptability, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following strict safety and procedural guidelines. The candidate must be comfortable with physical demands like standing, climbing, bending, and stooping for extended periods.
