The Air Traffic Control Instructor position at SAIC's CTS team located at the Washington National ATCT is a full-time, hands-on role focused on delivering top-tier classroom and simulation laboratory training. Ideal candidates will have significant technical expertise with current ATC automation and simulation systems. The instructor supports the FAA’s mission by mentoring students and Remote Pilot Operators while participating in curriculum design and development. This role demands in-depth knowledge of radar and non-radar simulation laboratory certifications. Candidates must consistently provide quality instruction to a diverse student body, including developmental air traffic controllers and Certified Professional Controllers (CPCs). This position is integral to maintaining the professionalism and safety of air traffic controllers. SAIC’s CTS services extend across all FAA ATC facilities in the U.S. and its territories, supporting all types and levels of air traffic controller training. The instructor’s responsibilities include ensuring students meet certification requirements, delivering effective training content, and adapting to evolving training technologies and methodologies. The role requires a strong interface with FAA personnel at all levels to align training services with the FAA's overall Air Traffic Control mission. Candidates are expected to hold FAA CPC certification and possess at least five years of FAA experience controlling live traffic, preferably at the Washington National ATCT or an equivalent or higher-level facility. Direct operational experience with ATC simulators such as TSS, AT Coach, and SGET, as well as skills in scenario design for simulation platforms, are highly valuable. Exceptional communication skills, classroom management abilities, and a dedication to continuous teaching improvement are desired qualities. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance, and offers a competitive salary range of $40,001 to $80,000 based on experience.
