SAIC Controller Training Solutions (CTS) is a key contractor supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) by providing training services essential to maintaining and enhancing the safety and proficiency of air traffic controllers within the U.S. National Airspace System. This team operates primarily at FAA air traffic facilities, delivering high-quality instructional services designed to support the development and ongoing certification of air traffic control specialists. Situated within the Corpus Christi International Air Traffic Control Tower/TRACON (CRP) in Corpus Christi, TX, SAIC CTS plays an integral role by utilizing advanced simulation technologies and training methodologies to ensure air traffic controllers meet stringent FAA standards. The CTS team embraces a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous learning, contributing significantly to the national goal of maintaining air traffic safety for millions of passengers and flights daily. The part-time Air Traffic Control (ATC) Instructor position at SAIC CTS involves delivering expert classroom and simulation-based training to both developmental and certified professional air traffic controllers. This role requires extensive hands-on experience with current ATC automation and simulation systems, including system operation, instructional delivery, and curriculum design. The Instructor will also serve as a mentor for students and Remote Pilot Operators (RPO), providing guidance and feedback to promote professional growth and competency within the air traffic control mission. SAIC CTS values candidates who demonstrate a deep knowledge of FAA air traffic control procedures and equipment, including the ability to manage radar and non-radar simulation laboratories to meet FAA certification standards. The role is dynamic, requiring strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with FAA personnel at multiple levels and ensure training aligns with local facility requirements and broader FAA objectives. This position is an excellent opportunity for experienced CPCs or contract instructors who have operated within FAA facilities at a comparable or higher level than the CRP facility. The role does not require travel and is classified as a day job with no potential for remote work, underscoring the hands-on, facility-based nature of the instruction. Importantly, earnings from this role are exempt from Supplemental Annuity earnings limits for FERS retirees aged 56 to 62, which adds a unique advantage for eligible candidates. The instructor's contribution is critical to the FAA's mission to maintain a safe, efficient, and professional air traffic control force ensuring the public's daily air travel safety.
