SAIC employs industry-leading technology and seasoned professionals to ensure the National Airspace System (NAS) operates safely and efficiently. Their Controller Training Solutions (CTS) division specializes in preparing air traffic controllers to meet the high standards required for managing thousands of daily flights in U.S. airspace. This role is based in Miami, Florida, at the Miami Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) and Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) facility, a critical hub for the FAA overseeing dense air traffic in one of the country's busiest airspaces.
The Air Traffic Control (ATC) Instructor position is a casual role designed for experienced professionals who are passionate about educating and mentoring air traffic control personnel. This position is critical in delivering classroom and simulation-based training to both novice and certified air traffic controllers. The instructor ensures that all training programs adhere to FAA standards and that students are well-prepared to manage air traffic safely and efficiently. This role involves hands-on instructional delivery, including scenario development for simulation platforms such as TSS, AT Coach, and SGET, allowing students to gain realistic and practical control experience.
The role entails mentoring students and Remote Pilot Operators (RPO), contributing to curriculum design, and supporting the FAA's overall air traffic control mission. Candidates must be highly familiar with current ATC automation and simulation systems and possess strong technical skills to operate and certify laboratories for radar and non-radar simulation training. The position requires a candidate with at least five years of experience controlling live traffic as an FAA Certified Professional Controller (CPC) or recent experience as a contract instructor in an FAA facility.
