The position of Site Coordinator for the After School Program at the YMCA is a full-time role comprising approximately 30 hours per week, working Monday through Friday from 12:30 pm to 6:30 pm. This role is vital in delivering a secure, creative, and enriching environment for school-age children during before and after school hours as well as during school vacation periods. The Site Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the program, ensuring compliance with YMCA guidelines and state licensing standards, which include Rhode Island Department of Human Services and Massachusetts Early Education & Care requirements.
Key responsibilities of the Site Coordinator include planning and supervising age-appropriate, academically aligned activities that support both skill-building and social-emotional development. The candidate will collect and maintain data on participant progress and program effectiveness, manage staff training and performance appraisals, and foster a culture of inclusion and equity. Leading a team, the Site Coordinator ensures positive child behavior management, proper maintenance of the facility and supplies, and compliance with child nutrition program standards for snacks and meals. The role also involves active engagement with parents and families through meaningful events and ongoing support networks, reinforcing the YMCA's mission of community strengthening.
As a leadership role, the Site Coordinator acts as a professional role model, promoting positive interactions and public relations with parents, school personnel, and the broader YMCA community. Ongoing professional development is encouraged with mandatory annual training relevant to the care of school-age children.                 - Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, human services or recreation from an accredited institution and minimum one year supervised experience working with school age children in a group setting
 - or Associate’s degree in related field and minimum two years supervised experience working with school age children in a group setting
 - Ability to work approximately 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 12:30pm to 6:30pm
 - Completion of a minimum of 20 hours training per year relevant to school age child care
 - Valid certifications or licenses as mandated by state licensing agencies
 - Strong communication and leadership abilities
 - Ability to manage staff and oversee program logistics
