We are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Sushi Cook to join our culinary team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside our experienced Sushi Chef in a well-established private club known for its exceptional dining offerings. The Sushi Cook will play a pivotal role in preparing both traditional and contemporary sushi dishes, maintaining rigorous food safety standards, and ensuring exquisite presentation. Ideal candidates will have basic sushi knowledge and a strong passion for Japanese cuisine, along with a desire to learn and grow professionally within an esteemed culinary environment. The Sushi Cook will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of sushi types including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and specialty creations with precision and artistry. Attention to ingredient quality and freshness, especially concerning fish, seafood, and rice, is critical. Working closely with the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef, the Sushi Cook contributes to the creation of innovative, fresh, and enticing seasonal menus tailored to the preferences of our discerning members. Maintaining an organized and sanitary workstation in accordance with health codes is essential, as is collaborating with the wider culinary team to elevate our sushi offerings. Beyond food preparation, this role also involves direct guest interaction when appropriate, explaining dishes and catering to special requests. The Sushi Cook will be responsible for managing inventory, monitoring product rotation to reduce waste and training junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and knife skills. Consistency in portion sizes and visual presentation is key to enhancing the dining experience and upholding the WGCC’s esteemed reputation. This is a part-time position with working hours Wednesday through Sunday from 2 PM to 10 PM, offering a competitive pay rate of $21.00 to $24.00 per hour. Physical demands include standing for extended periods and working in a fast-paced kitchen environment that requires manual dexterity for intricate knife work and delicate sushi preparation. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated culinary professional eager to develop their skills while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
