The current opening is for a Customs Entry Writer, a pivotal role within the company’s import operations team. This position is designed for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in tariff classification, customs entry filing, and compliance management. As a Customs Entry Writer, you will be responsible for ensuring that imports clear customs efficiently and in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations as well as requirements set forth by Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) like the FDA, USDA, and EPA. This role demands in-depth knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Automated Broker Interface (ABI) systems, and customs compliance procedures to support the company’s mission of timely and accurate customs processing.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass preparing and filing customs entries via ACE Portal and ABI, accurately classifying commodities according to HTSUS codes, managing correspondence such as CF28/CF29 responses and binding rulings, and maintaining rigorous compliance with security programs such as CTPAT and Importer Security Filing (ISF). You will also work closely with clients, carriers, and overseas agents to coordinate shipment details and resolve any customs clearance challenges. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in customs entry writing or import brokerage and be proficient with industry software platforms such as CargoWise, Descartes, or Magaya.
