The Café Manager role at the Eddy St. Bookstore Café on the Notre Dame campus, operating a Starbucks licensed café, is a key position integrating customer service excellence with operational oversight. This position involves managing daily café activities, leading and training team members, managing inventory and product quality, and driving sales and customer loyalty. The Café Manager is expected to be a subject matter expert within the café while maintaining a broad understanding of store operations to provide seamless service throughout the entire location. The role requires a resourceful and adaptable professional who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment. You will be operationally hands-on, spending much of your time preparing food and drinks, ensuring product freshness, and setting an example of superior customer service. A significant responsibility is to lead and motivate your team to meet sales goals, maintain safe food handling standards, and maintain cleanliness and operational standards required for a safe and inviting customer environment. Moreover, the Café Manager will play an integral role in generating customer loyalty by creating positive customer experiences, handling inquiries and complaints tactfully, and participating actively in sales promotions. The position demands a mix of leadership, communication skills, and operational know-how, all while adhering to health and safety regulations and supporting the overall store management team. This is a full-time role that requires availability for at least 30 hours weekly year-round, with schedules that may vary to meet store needs. The position also involves physical demands such as frequent movement throughout the store, prolonged standing, and occasional lifting, crouching, and climbing ladders. Compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols is required, including adherence to vaccination and mask policies respective to campus regulations.
