The role available is a full-time position responsible for supporting collection operations essential to NYBC’s mission. The position requires a hands-on approach in managing inventory, supplies, and equipment used in blood collection and medical operations. The individual will be responsible for packing hampers and canteens used in operations, distributing materials to the right affiliates, managing medical waste, and preparing donor rooms for smooth operations. This role also involves unloading delivery trucks, stocking mobile truck inventory, verifying and signing deliveries, conducting inventory checks biannually, and maintaining the order and cleanliness of stockrooms.
In addition to inventory management, the position ensures that all medical equipment such as blood pressure cuffs, hemocues, and donor scales are cleaned, calibrated, and functioning properly. Sterilizing hand tools, glassware, and sorting sterile items for operations also form critical duties. Maintaining operational cleanliness by managing items like coffee machines and coolers during operations is part of this role. Recordkeeping is also essential, requiring maintenance of a daily collection report and other necessary paperwork.
For this position, candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent with at least two years of warehouse, shipping, or receiving experience. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds is necessary along with good communication skills and attention to detail. The role offers a competitive rate of $21.40 per hour according to the Local 202 Collective Bargaining Agreement. The position is primarily located within New York or the Greater Tri-State office locations.
