This role requires a deep understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and the Mercy Flight Central General Operations Manual (GOM). The PIC must maintain effective communication with medical teams, maintenance personnel, communication specialists, and patients or their family members, fostering a collaborative approach to flight decision making.\n\nThis position demands a skilled and experienced helicopter pilot committed to upholding the highest standards of aviation safety and patient care. The pilot must conduct comprehensive pre-flight and post-flight inspections, ensure aircraft airworthiness, and maintain meticulous records such as flight logs, maintenance logs, and discrepancy reports. They are also expected to maintain professionalism by adhering to workplace conduct policies, safety practices, and confidentiality guidelines.\n\nMercy Flight Central values qualified pilots who hold a Commercial rotorcraft-helicopter certificate with an instrument rating, possess extensive flight hours including night vision goggle experience, and demonstrate a minimum level of turbine flight time.   • Commercial rotorcraft-helicopter certificate and instrument-helicopter rating
  • 2,000 total flight hours or 1,500 total flight hours with recent and specific flight experience
  • At least 1,200 helicopter flight hours with specific flight experience
  • At least 1,000 hours as rotorcraft PIC
  • At least 50 hours aided night vision goggle (NVGs)
  • 50 hours unaided if pilot does not meet aided NVGs recommended hours
  • A minimum of 500 hours of turbine time
  • FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
  • Maintain a weight not to exceed 240 pounds/108 kilograms with all flight equipment
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods to perform flight duties
  • Ability to wear a commercially available respirator mask with proper fit when requested
