The successful candidates will work in several key locations within the airport, including the airport administration building, maintenance complex, safety and security building, heating and refrigeration plant, taxi and limousine facilities, and the warehouse/trades building. With a starting salary of $19.00 per hour, this is a career service job open to the public and current city employees covered under the City’s collective bargaining agreement with AFSCME Local 73 SEIU. As a Custodial Worker, your responsibilities will include cleaning restrooms thoroughly, disinfecting surfaces, mopping floors, cleaning toilets, and replenishing restroom supplies. You will also clean walls, windows, partitions, and doors, using appropriate cleaning solutions and tools such as mops, scrubbers, polishers, and vacuum cleaners to maintain both carpeted and non-carpeted areas. The role requires careful removal of litter, waste management through trash disposal and compactor operation, and cleaning of public seating areas, office furniture, and stainless steel fixtures. Due to the airport environment, you will also disinfect handrails on escalators and moving walkways, ensuring high hygiene standards. The duties require physical stamina, including substantial lifting (up to 70 pounds), standing, and walking for extended periods.
