Within the Wilmington, DE Michaels store, we are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Event Coordinator to join our team. This unique role revolves around planning, coordinating, and facilitating various in-store events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes, aimed at creating fun, engaging, and memorable experiences for guests. As an Event Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in enhancing customer engagement by delivering exceptional service and personalized attention to event participants ranging in age from young children to seniors.
In this position, you will be responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously, involving direct interactions with clients and attendees to foster an atmosphere of creativity and enjoyment. You will demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting, coordinate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons, and ensure all events meet company standards. Effective communication with clients and store team members is essential to seamlessly organize events, address special requests, adjust plans based on feedback, and deliver optimal client satisfaction. Administrative duties, including responding to emails, making phone calls, and completing necessary paperwork, will also be part of your daily routine.
Additionally, your role will extend into customer service within the store by assisting shoppers with product location and recommendations, providing a quick and friendly checkout experience, and promoting the benefits of Wallet Rewards programs and Private Label Credit Cards. You will support various operational responsibilities such as truck unloading, stocking merchandise, maintaining store appearance and recovery standards, and participating in safety and shrink prevention programs. Compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and company policies will be imperative to align with legal and organizational standards.
The ideal candidate possesses excellent people skills, communication abilities, and creative problem-solving skills, with previous experience in retail and customer service, particularly working with children’s events. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, moving throughout the store, lifting heavy boxes, and performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks.
