The Volunteer and Operation Kid Comfort Coordinator position at the Armed Services YMCA of Hampton Roads is a part-time role with a flexible and predominantly remote work schedule ranging from 15 to 20 hours per week. This position includes some required availability during evenings and weekends to accommodate the needs of the organization and the families it serves. The hourly wage for this position is up to $18.00.
This role is crucial in ensuring the successful management and engagement of volunteers across the organization. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of volunteer management, including recruitment, orientation, training, scheduling, and ongoing volunteer support. They work closely with various departments to assess and fulfill the volunteer needs within the organization, matching volunteers' skills and interests with the appropriate assignments. Maintaining detailed volunteer records and managing schedules and hours are also key aspects of the role. This position plays a central part in fostering positive volunteer experiences, recognizing volunteer contributions, and cultivating lasting relationships between volunteers and the ASYMCA.
In addition, the coordinator will manage the Operation Kid Comfort program for the Hampton Roads branch. This responsibility includes handling requests for the distribution of Lovies, raising awareness of the program through presentations to military Commands, family support groups, and ombudsmans, and maintaining accurate records of recipients and items distributed. Collecting testimonials and feedback from families helped by the program is also an important part of measuring the impact and success of Kid Comfort.
Successful candidates for this position will possess exceptional organizational and communication skills, demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple tasks and volunteers simultaneously, and a proactive, problem-solving attitude. They will need strong interpersonal skills to motivate and build relationships with a diverse volunteer base and the capacity to lead and inspire volunteer teams effectively.
