The role of Sr. Director, Engineering & Safety is crucial within NBCUniversal's Universal Theme Park division, focusing on the Show and Ride disciplines. The Sr. Director plays a key role in long-term and short-term strategic planning, direct oversight of technical assets, and vendor management, ensuring compliance with Universal's rigorous specifications. The role involves collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including project teams, vendors, and regulatory bodies, to achieve high-quality, safe, and innovative attraction experiences for park guests. Responsibilities include providing technical support and guidance for ride and show projects, reviewing and developing engineering specifications, managing testing protocols, and enforcing safety standards across all equipment. The Sr. Director must effectively balance creative intent, business goals, budget constraints, and schedule demands to deliver exemplary attractions. This includes managing vendor relationships from bidding through commissioning, ensuring ADA compliance, and serving as a principal technical contact both internally across parks and externally with suppliers. With a strong focus on fostering teamwork and communication, the Sr. Director leads a diverse group of technical and safety personnel and drives best practices adoption among Universal's parks. Additional responsibilities extend to active participation in environmental, health, and safety initiatives and providing technical advice related to legal and regulatory matters. The position is full-time, based at an NBCUniversal-designated worksite, offering a competitive salary range of $210,000 to $260,000, including bonus and long-term incentives, along with comprehensive company-sponsored benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and various other perks.
