The role of the Host Person in the Food and Beverage department is vital to maintaining the hotel's reputation for exceptional service. Reporting directly to the Restaurant Manager, this non-exempt position serves as the guest's first impression upon entering the Chalkboard Restaurant. The Host Person is responsible for greeting guests warmly, managing reservations and seating arrangements using Open Table software, and balancing guest flow to ensure a smooth dining experience. Beyond greeting and seating guests, the Host Person plays an integral role in maintaining an organized dining room, communicating guest preferences and seating information to servers and management, and proactively addressing seating delays or guest concerns. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the menu, the ability to recognize frequent guests and their preferences, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Physical stamina is also required, as this role involves standing for extended periods, managing a cash register, and occasionally lifting heavy items up to 40 pounds. Previous experience in restaurant or customer service is preferred, along with a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.
