The Trade Compliance Analyst role at Diageo is a critical position that supports the company’s regulatory compliance framework in North America. This position focuses on maintaining and enhancing trade compliance operations, ensuring that all activities comply with the complex customs laws, trade policies, and international shipping regulations that govern the import and export of goods. Reporting directly to the Customs & Excise Manager, the Trade Compliance Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting the company’s operational processes including customs valuation, product classification under the Harmonized System (HS), compliance with Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements, government reporting, internal audits, and adherence to free trade agreement provisions. This role demands a thorough understanding of U.S. and Canadian customs regulations, as well as a sharp eye for detail to ensure that every shipment and customs filing is accurate and timely. The Trade Compliance Analyst will engage with cross-functional teams such as Supply Chain and Logistics, Finance, Suppliers, Customs Brokers, Manufacturing Plants, and Innovation teams to foster efficient and compliant trade operations. Key responsibilities include auditing, process validation, and the establishment of key performance metrics related to import and export activities. The role also emphasizes continuous improvement, seeking opportunities to optimize daily operations and stay aligned with changes in trade regulations and technology advancements. Ideal candidates will bring between three to five years of experience in import/customs/trade compliance roles, exhibiting proficiency in managing complex trade compliance scenarios with a strong understanding of supply chain processes. Licenses such as Certified Customs Specialist or Licensed Customs Broker are preferred, reinforcing the candidate's expertise and credibility in customs-related matters. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, while experience with SAP systems will be considered advantageous.
