Des Moines, IA, USA, IA Full-Time $19 - $19
Modern Aviation is a rapidly expanding private equity-backed company that specializes in the fixed-base operator (FBO) sector, providing essential aviation services to private and transient aircraft across the United States and the Caribbean. Established in 2018, the company has enjoyed significant growth through strategic acquisitions and organic expansion, supported by committed capital from renowned sponsors Apollo Management and Tiger Infrastructure Partners. Modern Aviation's vision is to build the third largest national FBO network in the United States, distinguished by world-class customer service and operational excellence. This goal encompasses expansion through new acquisitions, capacity enhancement at existing locations, and the development of greenfield FBOs, making it a dynamic leader in its field. The Line Service Technician (LST) role at Modern Aviation is critical in delivering exceptional ground support services to transient aircraft, jet owners, guests, and flight crews. This position demands a high level of technical skill as well as outstanding customer service capabilities. The LST is responsible for performing essential tasks such as fueling, towing, parking, basic cleaning, and other ground handling activities, ensuring that every arriving and departing aircraft receives prompt and efficient service. Operating ground support equipment safely and effectively is a key part of the job, as is maintaining ramp awareness to protect customers, staff, and equipment. The LST continuously promotes the company’s positive image and values by interacting professionally with personnel, members, volunteers, vendors, and the broader community. They are expected to exemplify the company’s Seven Star Service standards, going beyond customer expectations through attentive service and proactive support. The role requires the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment while adhering to company policies, safety regulations, and standard operating procedures. Due to the nature of the job, the technician must also perform duties safely in exposure to varying weather conditions, hazardous noise, chemicals, and moving machinery. This full-time, nonexempt position reports to the Line Service Manager and does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. The job requires physical endurance, including the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform a range of physical activities such as stooping, stretching, reaching, and grasping. Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required to support continuous operations. The work environment can be challenging, often involving exposure to noise, weather extremes, aviation fuels, oils, and other chemicals. Modern Aviation offers a comprehensive benefits package that supports employee well-being and financial security, including medical, dental, and vision insurance options, basic life insurance, disability coverage, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, as well as a 401(k) plan with company matching contributions. Additional benefits such as flexible spending accounts, health savings account funding, and buy-up insurance plans provide further support. The company is dedicated to equal employment opportunity and fostering an inclusive work environment where all employees feel valued and respected. Joining Modern Aviation as a Line Service Technician means becoming part of a forward-thinking team committed to operational excellence and superior customer service in the aviation industry. Candidates eager to work in a dynamic and safety-conscious environment will find growth and satisfaction in this role, contributing to the company’s ambitious vision and reputation as a premier FBO network nationwide.
