The Team Member role at Tractor Supply is a pivotal position that focuses on delivering a Legendary Customer Experience and supporting selling initiatives while expertly handling assigned tasks. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that requires flexibility, adaptability, and a service-oriented mindset. As a Team Member, you will engage with customers to understand their needs and recommend appropriate products, ensuring their shopping experience is distinctly positive and differentiates Tractor Supply from competitors. Responsibilities will span operating cash registers, managing merchandise recovery, participating in freight processing, performing merchandising tasks including plan-o-gram execution, assembling merchandise, and maintaining store cleanliness. This role also involves safely handling equipment such as forklifts and cardboard balers (for those 18 and older), assisting with loading customers’ purchases, and ensuring the proper care and well-being of animals in the store, particularly poultry.
Team Members must maintain regular and predictable attendance and be available for various shifts that may include nights, weekends, and overtime based on business demands. The position involves physical activity such as moving and transferring merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling heavier loads with the aid of equipment, and frequent standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing. Additionally, the ability to operate all necessary store equipment and the capacity to read, write, and count accurately are essential to successfully fulfill all duties. Training and certification in specific areas, including propane dispensing, may be required.
Although no previous experience is required, retail experience and familiarity with farming, ranching, pet or equine care, or welding are strongly preferred. Strong communication skills, basic computer proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills are vital for effective teamwork and customer interaction in this role. The working environment is generally favorable with moderate noise and adequate lighting, consisting mainly of indoor spaces with hard surfaces and some outdoor areas.
